Stations and rolls

Dog station layout and bags: 2 per 40 homes, then the weekly rolls

A clubhouse can is not a pet waste program. Scooponomics starts the map at 2 dog stations per 40 homes, then plans bags at 0.5–1 roll per station per week. The $15 weekly rate still uses the count you type — the layout is only a check.

The starting layout

2 stations per 40 homes means 80 homes start around 4 stations, 180 homes around 9, 320 homes around 16. Round to a whole can. That density is a comfortable homes-per-station band, not a city code. Trails, mail kiosks, amenity loops, and pedestrian gates usually matter more than a perfect rectangle on the plat.

Put the first stations where people already walk with a dog: the trailhead, the cut-through to the park, the dumpster alley behind garden apartments, the sidewalk out of a garage row. The second station in a 40-home cluster is often the one that stops the “we walked past the clubhouse and the bag was gone” complaint.

One can at the pool does not cover a linear greenway. A downtown podium building may need fewer cans than a trail HOA with the same door count, because the waste leaves with the sidewalk, not the common lawn. Type homes on the calculator to see the starting count next to the stations you actually have.

Bag rolls: 0.5–1 per station per week

A standard commercial roll is 200 bags. Most stations last about two weeks on one roll (that is the 0.5). Busy trail stations use about one roll a week (that is the 1). Four stations are 2–4 rolls a week, about 8.7–17.3 rolls a month at the same 4.33 weeks Scooponomics uses for money.

A common Amazon case is 10 rolls (2,000 bags). At four typical stations you want about one to two cases a month if the trail can is the busy one. Overflowing dispensers are not “almost stocked.” Residents stop bagging when the roll is empty, and the waste stays on the path.

Buy for the count

Scout builds the rotomolded station with a dispenser — buy it on scoutstations.com. Commercial metal posts and bag cases are on Amazon with tag scooponomics-20. As an Amazon Associate, Scooponomics earns from qualifying purchases. The shop row uses those same links.

Layout does not change the $15 rate

If you type 6 stations, weekly is $90 and monthly is $389.70 ($15 × 6 × 4.33). The “usual starting count from homes” line may say you look light or dense. That is commentary. The estimate still uses six. Weekly service only — there is no frequency picker on Scooponomics.

A simple walk-through

  1. Count doors. Multiply by 2, divide by 40, round.
  2. Walk the trails and gates. Add a can where bags already fail.
  3. Type that station count on Scooponomics. Add current spend if you want the savings line on the results cards.
  4. Plan 0.5–1 roll per station per week. Restock on the same weekly service that empties the can.

Then read dog waste per home if the board wants a newsletter number, or the HOA pet waste calculator guide if they want the dollar lines explained.
